TIME names Goodluck Jonathan in '100 Most Influential People in the World' list
US weekly news magazine TIME has named Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan its '100 Most Influential People in the World' list for the year 2012.
Jonathan who popped up on the prestigious list which was released today, Wednesday, April 18, 2012 on the magazine's official website falls a spot behind US President Barrack Obama.

Forbes is reporting that Austrian retail tycoon Wlaschek will wed for the fifth time at the ripe old age of 94. His bride-to-be, girlfriend Friederike 'Ricki' Schenk, won't reveal her age, but is likely a good three decades behind her groom.

Emeka Ike's 4-Year Old Son Crashes SUV
Disaster was narrowly averted last week, when the 4-year old son of Emeka Ike accidentally put a SUV in auto drive, while out with his mother. The mother reportedly left the young boy in the car, with the keys of the car in the ignition, and the child somehow managed to put the the car in auto drive, causing the car to run into another vehicle, and then into a supermarket.
The incident took place at Magodo Phase 1 (Lagos), last Wednesday. Fortunately no one was hurt in the incident, and the actor has confirmed that his child is hale and hearty.

Bomb Explosion Rocks Kano
According to the reports, Kano state was hit by another bomb explosion around 7.30pm yesterday. Though the number of casualties has not been ascertained, the reports say that the explosion went off in Sabon Gari, a predominantly Christian/Igbo area of the state.

In a move more reminiscent of something her husband Bill might do, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was photographed last night dancing and knocking back a beer at a club in Cartagena, Colombia.
Clinton, in town for Summit of the Americas, showed up at a bar called La Havana at around 12:45 AM and stayed for about 30 minutes.
According to a local paper, Clinton and her party of 12 ordered a dozen beers, two glasses of whiskey and bottles of water.

Kc Presh Hunted By Police
Kingsley of the K.C. Presh is said to have just bashed a popular music producer/studio engineer, Moshood Adegboro's car, which as a result, sustained serious injuries at Testing Ground Alausa, Ikeja area of Lagos.
Kingsley, who has separated from his singing partner, instead of appealing to the injured producer, we learnt, stepped out of his car, harassed him and bragged that nothing will happen. He entered the car, according to an eye-witness and zoomed off.
Moshood, having gone to treat himself from the injury sustained, we gathered, has gone to Alausa Police Station where he lodged a complaint. All effort to reach Kingsley to comment on the matter was futile

Top Nigerian singer, 9ice has sacked his friend and manager, Dehinde Fajana. It is reported that Abolore Akande, 9ice's real name, sacked Dehinde just some days after his album concert at Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The real reason for Dehinde's sack but fingers are pointing at Toni Payne, who is not in good terms with Dehinde. Some believe that there have been some irreconcilable differences between them. It is said that 9ice and Toni Payne are planning a re-union and as such, Dejinde must be off the scene for Toni to stage a comeback with 9ice as one family.

80 Year Old Woman Flies Plane
An 80-year-old woman was able to successfully land a twin-engine airplane in northeastern Wisconsin after her husband became unconscious at the controls and died. Door County Sheriff Terry Vogel says the dispatch center was told just after 5 p.m. Monday that a Cessna about 6 miles south of Sturgeon Bay had declared an emergency. The pilot, an 81-year-old man from the Sturgeon Bay area, had suffered a medical emergency and was unconscious.

A boy has been arrested after he and a 14-year-old girl appeared in a pornographic video, which was then posted on Facebook and is believed to have been seen by thousands of their fellow schoolchildren. The 14-year-old boy, from Cheltenham, appeared in the video alongside the girl, who is from the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. Police say the video, which they describe as pornographic, may have been seen by thousands of children across the county. The film has now been removed from Facebook.

Britain Deports 61 Nigerians
The United Kingdom on Thursday deported 61 Nigerians, including three minors, the deportees were flown into Nigeria in the early hours of the day in a chartered aircraft.Those deported include 47 males and 11 females who were received and screened at the cargo terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by the officials from the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).
An immigration source, who pleaded anonymity, said they were deported for immigration-related offences.

Robbers Attack Luxury Bus, Violate Students
A luxury bus belonging to Ekenedilichukwu transport company with 42 female students of a secondary school (name withheld) on board was attacked by a 12-man robbery gang at Oke-Odo, along Ore-Shagamu Expressway, Ogun State. Some of the female students were reportedly violated by the hoodlums.
The students said to be returning to their parents in Lagos for the Easter holidays, were also reportedly dispossessed of cash, GSM handsets and other valuables which monetary value could not be immediately ascertained.
I really feel sorry for them and their parents, its such a shame that we continue to live like animals in this 21st century.
Health Commissioner Allegedly Slaps Nurse
There was controversy, at the weekend, in Delta State over the allegation that the Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Otumara, slapped a nursing officer at the Central Hospital, Mrs. Akata Oghenero, just as the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, in the state is spoiling for a showdown over the matter. But the commissioner, Dr. Joseph Otumara, swore to Sunday Vanguard on phone, yesterday, that he didn’t slap Mrs. Oghenero, saying that he only tried to stop her from making calls with her GSM phone while work was going on during his visit to the hospital on March 29.
The incident was said to have happened at the gynecologist ward of the Central Hospital in the presence of many nurses and officials of the Ministry of Health, Asaba.

In extremely odd news, A Cambodian man, Sok Thoeun, is now on the run from the law for chaining his son to an electric pole as punishment for skipping school to play computer game at an internet café. Lol, the life of some crazy people, leaves us guess who is wrong, the boy or his father.
Breaking News; Lagos Plane Crash
Sources tell us that there has been a major plance crash, in Lagos, this morning. A flight carrying passengers to London, crashed killing all passenger on board. There is still no report from FAAN about this.

Tenants Docked For Defecating
Five tenants were on Friday arraigned before an Ikorodu Customary Court, charged with defecating around the house they rented. The defendants – Jude Ugbo (41), Joseph Oken (41), Emeka Uzoka (42), Oladunni Kayode (39) and Ndoka Ikoro (39) — all residents of 14, Rilwan St, Ikorodu, are facing a three-count charge of failure to provide toilets and bathroom in the house. The defendants pleaded guilty to the charges but claimed that the landlord failed to provide toilet facilities in the apartment.

Tinubu's Birthday To Gulp N1.8B
The Nigerian main opposition Party, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) is spending about N1.86B on Tinubu's 60th birthday. State and Local government areas in ACN controlled states contributed this amount, apart from Oyo state that refused to send in their on 'widow's handout'.
The carnival like birthday party for the ACN chief, will last for a week.

Dead Corpers: Sad Story
PLEASE TAKE SOME TIME TO READ THIS.
Part of what you will see in the picture at the break are the rosted bodies of five of the 2012 Batch A Corps Members that had accident three weeks ago, on their way to Taraba State Orientation camp at Ilesa/Akure Express way. The spirits of these unfortunate corps members are calling for attention, unfortunately our government turned deaf ear to the agony of these lost souls.
10 Corps Members posted to Taraba State were in the bus, 5 were burnt to death while 5 sustained serious injury and presently hospitalised. The dead have been given a mass burial by the FRSC.
I am sure you may be thinking that NYSC or Govt is taking responsibility showing care for the dead and those in hospital. If you share that thought….you are wrong.
I visited one of them at Wesley Hospital, Ilesa, Osun State over the weekend and my heart bleeds for the Nigeria. Our governments are responsibly irresponsible.
These guys are abandoned there at the hospital. The hospital, despite being a federal hospital, the parents are made to bear the huge medical expenses.
For your information, the accident was caused by FRSC officers (Osun Command) pursuing an Okada man who ran into the express way and caused commotion.
Neither the NYSC nor the FRSC is showing concern for the treatment of these guys. The parents were left to bear their cross. Nobody cares to know if the guys in hospital are still alive or not. I was told an NYSC official came from Taraba when it happened and promised to get back, but ever since (three weeks now), no one hears from either Taraba NYSC or Osun NYSC which is the closest NYSC agent to where they are hospitailised.
Just imagine the agony and trauma in the homes of the dead ones……
The pains of the guys in hospital…..
The emotional shock by these parents……
Are you thinking what I am thinking?
An injustice to one, is an injustice to all.
We must not leave these parents to suffer in vain.
These are fresh graduates going for National Youth Service
These are parents once happy their children were going to service their father land.
Do they deserve the neglect by the government?
